Joseph O'Connell, Senior Researcher

Joseph is experienced in qualitative research with particular interests in international development and utilising his research skills to help NGOs, charities and public sector organisations maximise their impact.

He has worked on a number of projects with The Research Base including carrying out a significant amount of primary research for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute and the British Council – the latter including international field work. He has also worked on desk research and a literature review for the Education Development Trust, synthesising findings in areas such as education system reform in LICs and teacher development.

He has a BSc in Politics and Philosophy (First Class Honours) from the London School of Economics and an M.Phil in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge.

Prior to joining The Research Base, Joseph carried out a self-designed research project into LGBT+ activist networks across South America. This was funded by The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, where he remains a Fellow. In recognition of the social value of this research, Joseph was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
